Horizon Distributors Ltd. Announces the Amalgamation of Planet Foods Inc.
Burnaby, BC, January 13, 2025—Horizon Distributors Ltd., the parent company of Planet Foods Inc., would like to announce that over the coming weeks, Planet Foods’ business operations will be amalgamated into the Horizon Group of Companies.
To improve our service proposition across Canada and streamline touchpoints throughout the supply chain, activity at the Planet Foods facilities in Calgary, AB and Brampton, ON will be transitioned to Horizon Grocery + Wellness (Burnaby, BC), ONFC Grocery + Wellness (Mississauga, ON), and PSC Natural Foods (Victoria, BC).
Planet Foods will close on March 31, 2025, when suppliers and retailers are transitioned. Horizon Distributors Ltd. will maintain responsibility for any outstanding accounts receivable, accounts payable and/or manufacturer claim backs.
Planet Foods has been at the forefront of innovation, brand development and distribution in the natural products industry across Canada for 30 years. The contributions of the many folks involved in Planet Foods, past and present, have been enormous. On behalf of the Horizon Group and Planet Foods’ many brands and retail partners, I’d like to thank everyone involved in Planet Foods for their tremendous service and commitment over the years.
Next Steps
Individual letters are being sent (via email) to existing Planet Foods supplier and retailer partners to begin preparing for the transition of products and services to the Horizon Group.
Horizon Grocery + Wellness representatives are leading the transition on behalf of the Horizon Group of Companies (Planet Foods, ONFC and PSC Natural Foods). They will be reaching out to impacted partners in the coming days.
